I've been meaning to comment on this . . .
It's interesting how he starts out sounding, well, whiney, and I don't feel especially sorry for him; but then, at the end, he gets into the reason critics and criticism, at their best, matter.
Heh: Criticism, like poetry, is a kind of emotion recollected in tranquility. There'll still be a place for it--once people realize, as he's saying right now, that crowd-sourcing kills art.
